My Heart Will Go On, Theme From Titanic

Part of music therapy is enabling the subconscious to let go of pain, sorrow, whatever is holding a person back from growing and moving on. The song “My Heart Will Go On” does just that.
“My Heart Will Go On” was the theme song of the 1997 blockbuster film Titanic, quite possibly the highest grossing movie of all time. James Horner composed the music for this song and scored the film, and Will Jennings wrote the lyrics.
My production and arrangement of “My Heart Will Go On” reflects the song’s Celtic roots, which is also a theme through much of Horner’s compositions. The song appears on my album “World on a String” and is also available as a single recording. My rendering of the sweeping theme of love amidst tragedy with piano and strings will resonate with the millions of listeners who already cherish this song.
Listen to a sample of “My Heart Will Go On” as I have interpreted it.
And cherish it they do. The song became a number one hit all over the world and won the 1997 Academy Award for Best Original Song. It dominated the Grammy Awards of 1999, winning Record of the Year, Song of the Year, Best Female Pop Vocal Performance, and Best Song Written Specifically for a Motion Picture or Television. “My Heart Will Go On” also won the Golden Globe Award in 1998.
“My Heart Will Go On” is considered by many to be Celine Dion’s signature song, and is one of the biggest love ballads of the 1990s.
Other films tried to follow in the footsteps of “My Heart Will Go On” with soundtrack singles of love ballads for tragedies, but none achieved the commercial success of Dion’s hit. Horner himself repeated the formula of making a song from his film themes with movies such as A Beautiful Mind, Bicentennial Man and The Perfect Storm but, again, none became as popular as “My Heart Will Go On”.
Two other songs from film soundtracks - Whitney Houston’s “I Will Always Love You” from The Bodyguard and Bryan Adams’ “(Everything I Do) I Do It for You” from Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves, have achieved similar popularity, but neither has received the multitude of awards, commercial success, and emotional connection with millions of people.
