A moment of meditation can change the world
Friday, October 24th, 2008
I hope we never lose inspiration from this famous quote by Margaret Mead, distinguished anthropologist, intellectual and scientist:
“Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it’s the only thing that ever has.”
A moments meditation, perhaps while listening to supportive meditation music, can help you resolve issues, problems, stress and worries. If you wish, find others with the same thoughts, commitments, dreams, goals, and values; band together, and change the world.
We can easily feel overwhelmed by some of the situations we Americans have experienced in the last few years, some of which are part of a world-wide experience: Katrina, four-dollar gasoline, a trillion-dollar war resulting in 250,000 civilian Iraqi casualties, rising unemployment, deregulated housing market, and global warming.
We need to seek out the truth as we search for answers as to who to vote for in November. We cannot assume that the media as we have known it can serve us this truth. Four corporations own all network tv stations. These corporations want us to vote for the person/party who will offer them the most freedom to pursue their own goals of financial gain.
For the moment the internet is, on the whole, the most balanced source of truth. That and looking within your own self.
Take a few moments when you have a question, and sit and get really quiet, fully expecting your answer. It has to come. Expectation unlocks all doors and lights all paths. Then when you have your answer, take that first step, then another, and have faith that, as Sir Edmund Hillary said, “the moment one definitely commits oneself, the Providence moves too.” You will be guided and aided in unforeseen ways.
And rather than dwelling on all that could be better, perhaps contemplate the words engraved on Margaret Mead’s tombstone,
“To cherish the life of the world”.
