How Reiki Music is Used

candles, towel, reiki stones, flowersMany of the Reiki forms do not use music, although many Reiki practitioners do feel that Reiki music aids relaxation and creates a calm peaceful atmosphere. To complicate things a bit more, there is music which is designed specifically for the use of Reiki practitioners, there is relaxing music composed with the intention of creating peace, joy and a healing atmosphere, and there is relaxing music which may or may not be appropriate for Reiki sessions.

It is up to the practitioner to review music prior to use and determine if it is suitable for his or her needs, and also if it is appropriate for any particular patient. One thing that music recorded especially for Reiki often includes is bells or chimes that sound at 3 minute intervals, or tracks that are approximately 3 minutes long. This enables the practitioner to concentrate on the energy and the patient, and not on the clock. Three minutes is the length of time that practitioners commonly “lay on the hands” in each position.

Therapists in many different fields agree that when treatments are combined with soothing sounds or music, the effect of the laying on of hands is strengthened and facilitated. The listener finds it easier to slip into a trance-like state that enhances the effects of the particular treatment being used in combination with the natural healing of the body.

In particular, consciously-created healing music can relax and help tune-in the Reiki practitioner. The practitioner follows the energy flows of the patient and receives “energy guidance” as to where to place the hands, or which symbols to focus on while calling forth healing energies.

Reiki clients report various effects from treatments accompanied by reiki music, from seeing and hearing angels to sensations of warmth and energy flow, light, freshness, relaxation, joy and ease in letting go.
