I received this story of healing years ago from a woman who practices Reiki.

Story of Shirley’s Reiki and Music Sessions by Betty Brooks

–Ms. Brooks has experienced many life roles, including those of wife, mother, teacher, advocate, caregiver, administrator, mediator and others that just happen in the course of one’s life. She has certificates in Level I & II in Guided Imagery and Music, a Course in Mediation with the Baltimore Mediation Center, and Reiki Level I, II and Advanced Restorative Reiki.

“Shirley contacted me after attending a healing retreat day I co-facilitated with Father Joe. She was being faced with some serious decisions after fighting cancer of the thorax for two years. Should she call for help from Hospice …. what would happen to her handicapped adult daughter?

“I began working with Shirley February 8, 2001. She is a beautiful woman with a wonderful, loving spirit that is delightful. I met Shirley’s sister, Mary, who came to live with her and care for her and Shirley’s daughter, Kim. Mary always shared the music and the Healing Energy by remaining in the room during the Reiki Sessions.

“During one particular session, when I was using a piece of Daniel Kobialka’s music (Silk Branches), Shirley opened her eyes abruptly and whispered, ‘Did you see that?’

“I just quietly nodded and continued the healing touch work and Shirley closed her eyes again.

“What Shirley was referring to during the session, was flashes of “Light” that passed between my face and hers, while I was working around her head and upper body. A few seconds before she asked me the question, I had also “seen” flashes of Light … and even glanced to the window, to see if the reflection of a passing car had caused the flash. But there had been no car passing, and then there was another flash.

“At the end of the session, when Shirley talked about her experience, the first thing she said, again, was ‘Did you see that?!? those flashes of sparkling light?! I think they were Angels’. I assured her that I thought they were angels, too. As she had after all other sessions, Shirley described her experience as one of total peace, and pain-free. She learned quickly the action of placing her hand over her chest, where the pain was the most severe, to ease that pain and to allow the strains of the music, along with the Healing Light, to flow through her. On this particular afternoon, I believe that Daniel’s music assisted her to ’see and feel’ the presence of a healing energy that truly touched her … Angels manifested in Light.

“Shirley passed over on May 4, 2001 less than an hour after I had been there for a brief session, leaving a copy of Daniel’s Going Home Again playing for her when I left.”
